Since its doors swung open in 1923, Copacabana Palace, a Belmond Hotel, has been Rio de Janeiro’s most glamorous address. Throughout the 1930s its Golden Room hosted performers from Ella Fitzgerald to Nat King Cole. In 1933, it featured in the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie Flying Down to Rio.
