Offering some of the finest country house accommodations in Scotland, Greywalls' stylish Edwardian charm makes it ideal for individuals, golfing holidays, family gatherings, weddings, and corporate events.
Designed by celebrated Edwardian architect Sir Edwin Lutyens as a "dignified holiday home," Greywalls was built in 1901 and retains the charm and character for which it is renowned. A haven of peace and tranquillity, it is famed for its food and service. The house features elegant drawing rooms, delightful dining areas, and 23 en suite bedrooms. The walled gardens, attributed to Gertrude Jekyll, include tennis courts, a croquet lawn, a putting green, and herbaceous borders.
Each bedroom is unique, featuring antique furnishings and its own décor. All rooms include a TV, phone, and en suite bathroom. Several cottage rooms lie just minutes from the main building. Most rooms enjoy uninterrupted views over Muirfield, the Firth of Forth, the gardens, or the rolling farmland to the Lammermuir Hills.
Overlooking Muirfield Golf Course, our Main Dining Room has hosted many famous dinners. It seats 20–50 guests and is light and airy. The smaller Original Dining Room, ideal for up to 20, shares the same views. The charming Sun Room seats up to 40 and offers a relaxed atmosphere and great flexibility. Larger events can be held in a marquee in our beautiful gardens.
Greywalls’ ground floor features elegant, interconnecting public rooms. The main hallway offers a lovely space for drinks receptions, while the library and cosy bar are perfect for relaxing after business or pleasure.
With 10 golf courses within 5 miles, Greywalls is the ideal venue for golf enthusiasts. The hotel has a long history with the sport, having welcomed many greats during Open championships. We can accommodate golfing parties of up to 40 in the main house, with smaller groups suited to the Colonel’s House.
