Design & Heritage
Opened in 1910, the building was a daring move from art nouveau to the emerging style of art deco at the time and remains a left bank icon.
History Lutetia has a fabled past and quickly became a place where the anonymous could be found alongside the famous, where art, philosophy, science and politics were continually created, discreetly and without ostentation. Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, Picasso, Matisse and Josephine Baker where among regular visitors to the hotel.

Dining In keeping with its history as a landmark in Paris society, Lutetia Paris has a number of unique spaces to meet, entertain, reflect and indulge. Most emblematic perhaps, and certainly the most well-known is ‘Brasserie Lutetia’, the hotel’s iconic restaurant. Now under the stewardship of renowned Executive Chef Patrick Charvet, the Brasserie has long been where the city has come together – Left Bank with Right Bank, Art Nouveau with Art Deco. With this tradition continuing, the restaurant offers the much-loved classics of neighbourhood brasserie menu alongside Chef Charvet’s contemporary interpretations. Set over two floors and with its own hidden al fresco patio, Brasserie Lutetia is once again celebrated as the address where all Paris meets.
At the heart of the hotel is the ‘Salon Saint-Germain’, a lounge featuring artist Fabrice Hyber’s unique and radiant glass ceiling, plentiful sculpture and an expansive library with an open-air courtyard beyond. With windows onto Boulevard Raspail, ‘Bar Josephine’ is the vibrant pulse of Lutetia. Showcasing a magnificent historical fresco this space is at once ancient and totally modern, the beautiful artwork a framework for the contemporary furniture and head bartender cutting edge mixology. A second bar, ‘Bar Aristide’ is dedicated to art and music and a small library is yet another space to meet, relax or simply indulge the mind and the senses.
