Situated on the northwest side of Montana’s iconic Lone Mountain, with its majestic slopes framed from the main lodge and lobby, One&Only Moonlight Basin is a setting that makes you feel truly alive. The vast 8,100-acre landscape features 360-degree mountain views, bordered by huge tracts of protected land in the Yellowstone National Park. One&Only Moonlight Basin is thoughtfully located within one of the region's most scenic and serene areas.
Big Sky Meadow lies in an alpine valley formed during the Cretaceous period. With a Native American history spanning 9,000 years and ranches dating back to the 1890s, Big Sky has transformed from a remote community to a coveted ski destination. From the launch of Big Sky Resort in the 1970s to the establishment of Moonlight Basin in 2000, the area continues to draw skiers and thrill-seekers to this pristine patch of Montana.
At One with the Wildlife
Built in harmony with creatures great and small, our resort is flanked by the habitats of countless animal species. Notable among them are the grizzly bears, protected by the Endangered Species Act. To respect their boundaries and avoid unexpected encounters in the wild, every guest will be provided with safety details before their arrival to ensure their dens remain undisturbed during hibernation season, and any experiences are expert led.
